Horticultural TECHNOLOGY

HORTICULTURAL TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT

The Horticultural Technology was one of the early courses established since the inception of the college upon its accreditation by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) many decades ago.

The department has graduated over 300 students with both National and Higher National Diploma Certificate (ND and HND), and has had about four heads of department – Mr. A. A. Adams, Dr. I. O. Abiola, Dr. Mrs.O. R. Ogunbanjo, Mr. O. N. Suleiman and presently, Mrs. Florence Toyin Aderemi as Acting Head.

Goals and Objectives

To professionally produce higher agricultural technologists who are adequately and technically equipped with in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of Horticultural Technology, and are capable of establishing, managing large scale enterprises.

Prepare diplomates for careers in the nation’s growing agribusiness sectors which provides products and services in the agricultural value chain for the production, processing and distribution of food and fiber.

The objectives of the programme are to teach and train the students in the following areas;

Research breakthroughs

The Effect of Organomineral Fertilizer on the Growth and Yield of Kale Plant ( Brassica oleraceae )

Response OF Kale ( Brassica alboglabra L. ) to various Plant Media and Application of Liquid Organic Nutrition in DWC (Deep Water Culture).
