AGRIBUSINESS MANAGEMENT (ABM)

The Department Agribusiness Management (ABM) Department was given approval by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) in December 2022, the department was officially inaugurated in  February 2023.The academic programme of the department is designed to produce middle-level technical manpower (technologists), capable of producing  practical solutions to agricultural business enterprise and ,agricultural value chain. They also trained to  increase awareness on the importance of value addition, agricultural innovations and sustainable food productions, supporting agribusiness development and generating employment opportunities in the agricultural sector and related industries. The department is being managed with fifteen seasoned lecturers/technologists under the headship of  Dr Babatunde T.O. who is now the current Head of Department

OBJECTIVES:

Prepare diplomates for careers in the nation’s growing agribusiness sectors which provide products and services in the agricultural value chain for the production, processing and distribution of food and fiber.

 

On completion of the programme, the diplomates should be able to:

Admission requirements

Applicants with all the following qualification may be considered for admission into the Higher National Diploma programme by;

The minimum entry requirement for National Diploma in any agricultural programme.

Utilize modern techniques for large-scale livestock rearing, ensuring efficiency and sustainability.

The National Diploma with a minimum of lower credit pass in any agricultural programme.

PROFILE OF HEAD OF AGRIBUSINESS DEPARTMENT

Head of Department

Babatunde Taiye Oluwasola

Babatunde Taiye Oluwasola is a dedicated academic professional in the fields of surveying and Agricultural Economics, with diverse and extensive educational background and over two decades of experience in teaching and academic administration.

He began his educational journey at St. Stephen Primary School, followed by Community Grammar School and Oba Akinbiyi High School Mokola where he completed his secondary education. He proceeded to Yaba College of Technology, Lagos obtained a National Diploma in Surveying. He further obtained his Higher National Diploma (HND) in Surveying and Geo-Informatics from the Federal School of Surveying,Oyo and completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Cross River State. In pursuit of academic excellence, BabatundeTaiye earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto. He later enrolled at Olabisi Onabanjo University,Ago-IwoyeOgun State  where he obtained a B.Agric in Agricultural Economics and Farm Management, an M.Sc. in Agricultural Economics, and  his Ph.D. in the same field.

Babatunde TaiyeOluwasola joined the College in 2003 as a staff member of the Department of Forestry Technology, now known as Forestry and Environmental Technology. In 2022, with the establishment of the Department of Agribusiness Management (ABM), he was transferred to the new department, where he currently serves as the Head of Department. Throughout his career, he has held several leadership roles, including serving as the Farm Practical Coordinator for over six years and Chairman of the College Examination Result Committee (COCER) for more than two years. He is also a member of both the Academic Board and the College Management Team. BabatundeTaiye has 75  publications in reputable national and international journals and has actively participated in academic conferences, presenting papers on various subjects within his expertise.He is a member of the following learned society  :Agricultural society of Nigeria ,Nigeria Associations of Agricultural Economics, Nigeria Field Society ,Association of Agricultural Technologist of Nigeria  AATON and Institute of Professional Agriculture of Nigeria  IPAN. He is a devoted Christian, happily married, and blessed with wonderful children .His scholarly contributions to the field are reflected in his impressive publications record,which includes the following selected works.
