PROCUREMENT 

OVERVIEW

The procurement department at the Federal College of Forestry, Ibadan, plays a crucial role in acquiring the necessary goods, works services for the smooth operation of the college. The activities of the department include but are not limited to the following:

* Identifying and assessing the college’s procurement needs across various departments, from academic resources like laboratory equipment and teaching materials to operational necessities such as office supplies and infrastructure maintenance.

* Conducting market research to identify potential suppliers, assess pricing, and understand market trends for required goods and services.

* Preparing and managing bidding documents such as Requests for Proposals (RFPs) or Invitations to Tender for larger purchases, ensuring transparency and compliance with public procurement regulations.

* Evaluating bids and proposals received from suppliers based on predefined criteria like cost, quality, and delivery timelines to select the most suitable vendors.

* Negotiating contracts with selected suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and conditions for the college.

* Issuing purchase orders and overseeing the delivery of goods and services.

* Managing supplier relationships to ensure quality service and address any issues that may arise.

* Ensuring compliance with relevant procurement laws, regulations, and the college’s internal policies.

* Maintaining records of all procurement activities.

* Contributing to budget planning by providing cost estimates for procurement needs.

In essence, the department strives to obtain the best value for money while adhering to principles of transparency, accountability, and efficiency in all its Procurement processes.
